Dalhousie

Relax and enjoy local sight-seeing in Dalhousie on this day. This hill station is located in the Chamba district at an altitude of 6463 feet, spread across five hills and is surrounded by peaks. There is a wide range of vegetation including oak, pine and deodar across this hill station. There are lush green fields filled with Daisies till as far as your eyes can see. Dalhousie abounds in natural beauty and old-world charm - while some of its locations look straight out of a fairytale, others seem to have been picked from a romance classic.

Dalhousie was named after Lord Dalhousie, the British Governor-General in India who established this place as a summer retreat. Scottish and Victorian architecture can be seen in the churches and bunglows in the town.

The best attractions of Dalhousie are: Dainkund Peak, Panchpula, Garam Sadak, Bakrota Hills, Ganji Pahari, Katalope and Sach Pass.

Trekking from Dalhousie to Dainkund (2755m) via Kalatop

Duration - 7 Hours

Trek to Dainkund from Dalhousie via Kalatop on this day.

Located at an elevation of 2755 meters above the sea level, Dainkund Peak is one of the best and the most visited place in Dalhousie. This place carries a serene charm and the picturesque natural surroundings are sure to take your breath away.

From the peak one can relish a 360° view of the entire valley - mountain ranges with deodhar trees, flower valleys, fluffy white clouds grazing the mountain tops – in short, nature’s beauty at its mesmerizing best. The noise of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also obtained the name - ‘the singing hill’.

Duration - 5 Hours

A 5 hour trek to Khajjiar from Dainkund begins next morning. The trek is an easy to moderate descent over a trail that is clearly defined for most of the way. The surrounding visuals during the trek are so beautiful, that one may spend more time just relishing the views or clicking pictures, than moving ahead.
