Departure from Delhi to Bir via Baijnath

Duration - 12 Hours

Fun times begin with the bus departure from Delhi in the evening, as you chat away the evening with your group into the night, that gets cooler as you inch closer to the Himalayas. And once you doze off, the hours fly away.

The bus shall reach Baijnath the next morning, from where govt. buses/taxis are readily available for Bir. Distance from Baijnath to Bir is 13 kms and it takes around 1 hour to reach there.

Bir

Indulge in some local sight-seeing in Bir on this day. Set against the backdrop of the Dhauladhar Range of the Indian Himalayas at an altitude of 1525m, Bir is a picturesque town full of greenery in the Kangra District in Himachal Pradesh. It has a friendly, relaxed Indian population and a large Tibetan (Khampa) community. Home to several educational institutions, monasteries, and NGOs, Bir is becoming a popular off-the-beaten-path destination for meditation courses, volunteering, and ecotourism.

Major attractions of Bir include The Chökyi Lödro College of Dialectics (Center for higher Buddhist philosophical study), Palpung Sherab Ling (A Karma Kagyü Tibetan Buddhist Monastery), the Dharmalaya Institute (An eco-campus for compassionate living, set on a hill with breathtaking views overlooking Bir and the valley), river pools in Upper Bir and the lush green widespread teagardens.

Trekking from Bir to Billing

Duration - 3-4 Hours

Trek to Billing from Bir on this day. All along the trek you are greeted with breathtaking sights, and surreal surroundings of never-ending expanse of green mountain slopes.

One of the best sites in India for paragliding, Bir-Billing attracts both Indian and international visitors. The flying season is from September to October, with some flying also done in November. The village regularly hosts international competitions and events.

Apart from paragliding, you can also enjoy mountain biking here. Or indulge in sessions of yoga and meditation, far from the humdrum of city life.
